The challenge is to manage a diverse range of residential projects in a stressful and demanding environment. This will appeal to a proven Project Manager with first class organisational ability strong communication skills a keen eye for detail and a calm head under pressure. The company Our client specialises in designing and installing luxury interiors as well as supplying a product range that includes fabrics and linens furniture lighting and home accessories. Separate business units specialise in Residential project work from core design through to installation Retail with an impressive 5500 square foot Interior Design Showroom and Gardens in Surrey a showroom in Chelsea Harbour and a high street store opening shortly in Farnham Design and marketing of a sophisticated range of own brand fabric and linen products A separate operation based near Guildford has been established to provide these business units with all the support they require in terms of Order Processing Customer Service Warehousing Logistics and Transport It and Telecoms Premises and Security. The specialist installation team is also based on this site. The role The main focus of this role is on planning and delivering the residential projects. They are very varied in size and complexity and can take anything from one week to one year to complete. There is a requirement to liaise closely with the Design teams individual clients and key suppliers. It is essential to develop comprehensive project plans and timetables from the core specifications and to monitor progress against them. Any agreed variations and or issues with suppliers must be identified and factored into ongoing updates of the plan. There is also a need to maintain close contact with the Warehouse and Installation teams to ensure that all the materials are available when required and that the appropriate skilled labour is scheduled and deployed. The use of technology is crucial in view of the number and variety of the projects. Microsoft Project 2010 is used extensively along with SharePoint Excel and other Microsoft Office Products. As well as the close control of the progress of projects and the maintenance of clear communication with all the interested parties the Project Manager must also keep close tabs of the financial aspects of each project. Any variations from the initial specifications in material or labour costs must be highlighted quickly and close contact needs to be maintained with the Accounts team throughout. The person To be successful in this role you will have experience in a multi project environment ideally associated with the construction or building industries. This should have involved dealing with designers and suppliers and exposure to high net worth clients is an added bonus as is involvement with high value luxury items. Formal project management training is an advantage but well developed It skills are a must. These should include Microsoft Project and Excel as a minimum as well as exposure to other packages including Finance Database and Cad systems. We also need a high level of numeracy and financial awareness. On a personal level we need someone who can multi-task prioritise effectively make decisions and remain calm under pressure. The ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of clients and suppliers is fundamental as is an overarching desire to deliver results.
